House Bill 193, also known as Firearm Law Revisions, became law on July 29, 2025, allowing employees or volunteers at nonpublic schools to carry a firearm on school property.
Conditions:
•The employee or volunteer must have written authorization from the school’s board or administrator.
•The employee or volunteer must possess a valid concealed handgun permit or be exempt under law.
•The employee or volunteer must complete eight hours of annual training (in addition to the required permit training), overseen by an NRA-certified instructor or equivalent.
•The school must maintain written standard operating procedures and distribute these to parents annually.
